Muff (CZ)

Muff was formed in 1999 but released their debut album only after a decade of activity. The band consists of five distinctive musicians creating a collage at the intersection of jazz and rock, infused with a light haze of psychedelia, electronics, and samples.

Named after a character from a children's TV show, Muff is a modern band led by saxophonist Marcel Bárta (Vertigo, Farma v jeskyni, Jazz Dock Orchestra), keyboardist Jakub Zitko (Aneta Langerová), bassist Jakub Vejnar (Michal Ambrož & Hudba Praha), guitarist Jiří Šimek (Electric Madness), and drummer Roman Vícha (Ewa Farna, Martin Brunner Band).

They have released four critically acclaimed albums.

"Muff is an all-star band of Czech professional musicians from the younger middle generation. They are often labeled as jazz musicians, but their range is vast, covering genres from pop to alternative."

"Their music is defined by the sheer joy of playing. They set no boundaries for themselves, seamlessly blending different musical styles—from pure jazz-rock to psychedelic soundscapes, from hard-hitting, rock-infused improvisations to powerful instrumental melodies." – Ondřej Bezr, iDnes
